Waste Services

Residential customers are provided with once (1x) per week collection that includes organics, recycling and trash collected curbside. Services vary slightly for multi-family (apartments, duplexes, some condos) customers. Please contact us if you have questions about which services are applicable to you.

Trash Cart (gray or brown cart)

You many choose your cart size at time of initial subscription and from 3 Waste Service Subscription Levels (see below). Cost for monthly service is the SAME regardless of cart size.

When will my trash be picked up?

June — August collection begins at 6:00 a.m.

September — May collection begins 7:00 a.m.

Important Reminder: Please put away your carts after they have been emptied. Chapter 6.04 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code states that trash/refuse and recycling shall not be left stored within public view except in proper containers for the purposes of collection and between the hours of 5am and 8pm on collections days.

Basic Curbside Service

Once weekly service includes trash, recycling and organics collected curbside.

  • 35 gallons
  • 65 gallons
  • 95 gallons

Cost for monthly service is the same regardless of cart size.

Walk-in Service

PSDS crewmember will retrieve carts from back yards or side yards for collection and return carts after route is complete.

Note: Please inform our staff if locks or lock boxes are present in order for our crew to gain entry into property.

 

Estate Service

Unlimited number of carts or cans for walk-in service level.

 

 

Additional Optional Services

Add a 2nd Weekly Pick-up

Yields two collections each week.

Add Carts for Walk-in Service

Available for trash, recycling, and organics.

Walk-in Extra Distance

For those with longer driveways who'd like PSDS to pick-up their carts from outside their residence beyond 50 ft.

Drop Off Service

You have the option to drop off your household recyclables, eWaste, and appliances to the PSDS office between 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Located at 4690 East Mesquite Ave., Palm Springs, CA (see map)

Low-Income Discount Program for Waste Pickup Services

Eligible low-income customers can now receive a discount of 15% off of their annual Palm Springs Disposal Service (PSDS) bill.

Customers must meet the same income levels that qualify you for the CARE program for electricity and gas. If you are a member of the CARE program, you qualify for the discount. Customers must also be PSDS customers receiving the basic service.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

Palm Springs Disposal does not accept hazardous waste. Hazardous waste needs to be taken to an ABOP (antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint) center. It is unsafe and illegal to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) with regular waste. HHW includes products identified with words such as Toxic, Poison, Flammable, Combustible, Danger, Caution or Warning. Check here to see if what you’re throwing away is hazardous waste.
